Film Photography

Owning a mechanical Leica M4 and explicitly refusing to use it for the shameless documentation and harassment of defenseless strangers in the name of street photography is admittedly a bit of an anomaly.

Yet, there is somewhat of an absence of people in my pictures and this is deliberate. I actively avoid the cliché of supposedly "deep" people photography, where random strangers are captured to construct artificial psychological portraits.

Not to offend anybody, but human subjects often distract from the raw, static reality of spaces and objects that simply exist on their own terms.

All of us live in a regulated environment formed by human activity over history, showcasing the human factor well enough on its own.

And to make this less pretentious: I studied sociology for a good decade and I am simply tired of people - just read the news.
